Riportiamo un documento riguardante l'analisi delle principali malattie che affliggono gli allevamenti di gamberi di acqua salata. Segue un riassunto:

ABSTRACT
The rapid expansion of the shrimp farming industry is plagued by diseases affecting shrimp survival and growth. These represent the higher problem to the shrimp industry develop. Protozoa, fungi, bacteria, and virus have been suggested to play an important influence in shrimp production. Several disease outbreaks have caused major problems in recent years, including the spectacular collapses of the industries in several countries (China,Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Ecuador). Twenty different viruses are known to infect penaeid shrimp. These are probably the most important pathogens faced by the shrimp farming industry. However, other pathogens are
also very important in shrimp farming, particularly various infectious bacteria. Traditional treatment of shrimp diseases has centered around chemical and antibiotic products. Chemical treatment is difficult because of the quantity of chemical needed to produce a therapeutic effect and inadequate applications techniques for shrimp ponds. Continuos use of
antibiotics induces resistance in bacteria and accumulation in shrimp. There are no specific treatment for some disease, principally for shrimp viruses diseases. For this reason, in recent years the shrimp industry has developed a number of strategies to enhance shrimp growth and survival, and at the same time decrease the incidence of shrimp diseases and environmental effect. The aim of this work is introduce at main shrimp diseases, their pathogen agent, and characteristics signs of disease.
