ICLARM & FAO have agreed to develop a networking system to meet the present and emerging needs of Aquatic Animal Health information exchange in Africa. At this point we are in the process of collecting the following preliminary information:
Names and contact information of scientists and related interested parties working on aquatic animal health issues in Africa or with links to Africa, that will be interested in becoming members of this fish health network.
Names and contact information of institutions (laboratories, research centers, university research departments, national institutions, regional bodies and networks, etc.) working on aquatic animal health issues in Africa or linked to Africa.
People and institutions will be further approached off-list in order to gather additional relevant information which will serve as the basis for developing a functional searchable information database, similar to the one already created for the Aquatic Animal Pathogen Quarantine Information System (AAPQIS) in Asia (see http://203.101.155.227/ASIABODY.HTM). Eventually, the information available for searching will be made public on the Internet and will include, among others, names and contact information of scientists and institutions working in Africa, aquatic animal diseases and parasites information (publications, past/current/future research, etc.), and much more.
Please contact us off-list (DO NOT HIT REPLY!) at fishealthafrica@iclarm.org.eg with your information.
Thank you in advance for your valuable input in this effort to improve the aquatic animal health information exchange and to further the networking capabilities between fish scientists and their work in Africa.
Kind regards,
Fernando A. Gonzalez
